A5 - Almost unlimited applications
The task of the ADAM engineers was to design a finely finished speaker with small dimensions that can be used in a wide range of multimedia applications. Built on the heritage of ADAM Studio Monitors, which are employed in many of the most renowned recording and sound studios around the world, the new compact A5 brings the same breakthrough ADAM loudspeaker technologies to multimedia applications such as hifi set-ups, gaming, home theater and surround applications.
Transducer technology
Technically speaking, the A5 is the smaller brother of the A7, a likely candidate for the title of “best-reviewed professional monitor worldwide”. The A5 uses ADAM’s proprietary tweeter transducer technology (ART) and a smaller version of the same Rohacell® woofer found in the most popular ADAM Studio Monitors, providing outstanding sound quality unprecedented in a speaker of such small size.
Active electronics & Controls
Two built-in 25 Watt amplifiers power the drivers directly. The front of the A5 sports dual ports for surprising low frequency response down to 55Hz and this can be extended as low as 31Hz with the addition of the Sub7 subwoofer. The A5 has metal grills for durability front mounted power and gain controls. The rear panel includes balanced (XLR) jacks, unbalanced (RCA) jacks, and a host of EQ controls to tailor the sound to suit room acoustics or personal taste.
Stereolink
The A5 employs a new development by ADAM called Stereo-link. This new technology connects two A5 speakers with input and output jacks, allowing the user the option to control the overall stereo volume of the system from either speaker’s gain control. This makes the A5 a natural for “mixer-less” desktop applications where overall system volume needs to be adjusted often and from a single control.
The perfect complements: Sub7 and table stands
ADAM Audio also offers a new subwoofer, the Sub7, which has been especially designed for the A5. Despite its rather small footprint, the Sub7 is capable of extending the reproduction of an A5 system down to 31Hz. The Sub7 makes the ideal partner for the A5 with its multiple XLR and RCA inputs and controls. Also included is a remote control for the volume and crossover frequency.
Last but not least, there are desktop/table stands available that also have been specifically designed to optimize the acoustics of the A5.
